John Strong, Owner of
Economy Plumbing Supply Company in Indianapolis, Elected
President of the American Supply Association.
The
American Supply Association has elected John Strong, President and
Owner of Economy Plumbing Supply in Indianapolis, to be ASA
President for 2014. John Strong is the President and Owner of
Economy Plumbing Supply Company in Indianapolis and was introduced
as 2014 President at the American Supply Association (ASA) National
Convention in October, 2013. John's father, Herbert Strong, held the
ASA presidency in 1996. They are the first father-son duo to hold
the ASA presidency.
"To follow my father as President of our national association is a
great honor and opportunity to continue his legacy of service and
leadership; while working for continued success of the independent
wholesale distributor," John Strong said.
Economy Plumbing Supply Company has been central Indiana's wholesale
and retail premier provider of plumbing supplies, bath and kitchen
design products, and cabinets for home remodeling projects for over
80 years.
The American Supply Association is a nonprofit organization serving
wholesale distributors and suppliers within the industry comprised
of heating, cooling, piping, and plumbing.
John Strong had been serving on the board of directors for the North
Central Wholesalers Association, one of the ASA regional
organizations. John Strong was elected to the ASA executive
committee four years ago and ultimately was elected ASA president in
late 2013.
"I am very fortunate to come into the presidency where my
predecessors have laid the groundwork for tremendous success and
accepted relevance for ASA," John Strong said. "The ASA has
implemented many meaningful programs recently that have really hit
the sweet spot for our membership and created great demand and
success for our association's position in the industry. Education,
Benchmarking, Advocacy and Member Networking are the four pillars of
our success. My focus for 2014 will be to promote awareness and the
ASA value proposition to the small independent wholesaler, like my
company."

As President of the
American Supply Association, John Strong speaks on behalf of ASA
at regional events in addition to attending national events,
trade shows, and other industry events. He recently attended the
Network ASA 2013: One Industry, One Voice, One Future. It was
held in Washington DC and included over 500 ASA members meeting
with their House and Senate representatives on Capitol Hill. He
also attends related associations' events such as the National
Kitchen and Bath Association convention. One of the most
important tasks he has been given as President of the ASA is
government advocacy for small business.
"Although working with our elected leaders can be frustrating,
ASA must maintain a presence on the Hill. We must provide
consistent input in Washington to make sure our voice is heard,"
Strong said. "One should not complain about Washington's failure
if you do not make an effort to effect change and be heard."
